Tyrth's dominant terrestrial biome consists of temperate forests and valleys, but more unique biomes such as deserts, savannas, and canyons can also be found - bathing the realm in unique palettes with white dunes, golden grasslands, and black canyons. There are many other geographical features and pocket biomes in Tyrth that aren't listed here.

Regions

Farfathom

Boreal Forest / Mountains / Tundra

This remote mountainous region is famous for its talented blacksmiths and iron workers. Many famous swords and shields were tempered in this region.

It is said that enormous beasts roam the desolate mountain peaks, making travel to this area quite dangerous. Farfathom boasts some of the largest expanses of uninhabited wilderness to be found in Tyrth. No one can really be sure what ancient beings are hiding in this region.

Viridith

Temperate Valley

Viridith is a verdant valley in a prime location. Its busy harbour connects it to many other regions, and its access to mountain ore, forest lumber, fresh water, fertile soil, and fishing have made this a region of abundance. Ambria is the largest, wealthiest city in Tyrth. It is famous for its white stone buildings capped with golden roofs. The white stones of Ambria mirror the pale mountains that surround the Whorl of Tyrth. Ambria's proximity to the Whorl of Tyrth makes this city see a lot of tourism as folks make their pilgrimages to sacred tree.

Plains of Midoria

Meadows / Plains / Riverlands

The Plains of Midoria are a lush expanse of gently rolling hills and fields fed by The Wefts river system. This plains region differs greatly from the Gyrelands due to its mild weather and abundant freshwater. It's a picturesque pastoral landscape perfect for anyone looking for a quieter and more peaceful lifestyle. It's common to see flocks of Mothalo grazing in the tranquil meadows, and the gentle churning of waterwheels that attend the many rivers in this area.

Maelmire

Swamp / Bog

Maelmire is a mixture of dense dark forests and treacherous bogs famous for its geographic features The Tines - a mountain ridge composed of towering rock spires that resemble antlers. They say there are strange flora and fauna in Maelmire that can't be found anywhere else in Tyrth - including fungi that can grow as large as tabletops and can be used as natural staircases. While the landscape of Maelmire may be dangerous, it has proven to be a veritable treasure trove for advancements in medicine due to the unique plants and fungi that can be found here.

The Gyrelands

Savanna / Grassland

The Gyrelands is a warm plains region famous for having very strong winds. The sprawling plains are covered in golden grass and spires of rock. The city of Hyrra has been very successful by harnessing wind power. Hyrra has been nicknamed The Clockwork City for all of the wind-powered contraptions found throughout it. This hub of innovation attracts some of the brightest minds and inventors in all of Tyrth. To the south of the Gyrelands you can find Windvale - a quaint seaside town known for its attractive windmills. The Gyrelands is where the Lumari Festival takes place. This festival celebrates the gathering of the lumari in the region, and many folks gather from far and wide to see the migration and fly kites to celebrate the festival.

Driftrun

Desert

Driftrun is a desert region blanketed in sweeping white dunes and speckled with beautiful teal cacti, and is home to a large city known as Sandspire. Sandspire owes its success to a chain of rivers known as the Eclipse Lakes which supply the city with cool fresh water. Its bustling market streets are shaded by swathes of brightly coloured fabric in vibrant patterns. While the visible city is quite large, there is even more of it underground carved directly into the sandstone. Sandspire is famous for pottery and textiles, and its warm dry weather and crystal clear lakes make it a popular tourist destination.

Silverim

Temperate Rainforest

Silverim is sometimes called the sister region to Viridith, given the close proximity across the Celadon Sea and the similar climate. Silverim is blanketed in ancient forests with trees of enormous sizes. This area is steeped in tradition and is a very spiritual place where incense seems to cling to the air and will 'o the wisps float between the trees, guiding those who would walk its primordial woods.

Starkend

Canyon / Plateau / Volcano

Starkend is a high altitude region known for its dry climate. It is primarily composed of mountains, plateaus, and canyons and has a relatively low population. Despite the remoteness of this region, Siltwick has become an important harbour town connecting the flourishing regions of Driftrun and the Vale of Mythra.

Vale of Mythra

Temperate Rainforest / Mountains

The Vale of Mythra is remote and difficult to travel to, but despite that it boasts a bustling population and has natural protection due to the shield of mountains that surround it. Mythra's tall peaks are home to hundreds of waterfalls and floating islands, giving this region a misty and mythical appearance. This region is famous for being rich in rare ore and even rarer gemstones, and those treasures are mirrored in the colourful stained glass windows that nearly every building flaunts. Many talented artisans live in this stunning mountain region.
