Solstone

Solstone is a stone with a gentle glow that is warm to the touch. While it does not have any magical properties, it's a popular gem often used for artificial lighting. The streets of Ambria are lined with lampposts crowned with this lovely stone. The stone is also popular on ships as its light can't be snuffed out by rain or waves and doesn't put the ship planks at risk of catching fire.

Solstone absorbs and stores sunlight. Because of this, it requires periodic exposure to sunlight to keep glowing. If it is stored somewhere where sunlight cannot reach it, the glow will eventually fade.

While solstone is a common gem, it can be tricky to identify veins of solstone beneath the earth because they have never been exposed to sunlight and therefore do not glow. You won't know whether the precious ore you've mined is genuine solstone or not until you bring it to the surface and let it bask in daylight for a while!
