Moon Gates

Moon Gates in Tyrth are portals that connect one location to another. Legend has it that these portals were created by a fowldyr, but the knowledge of how to create them seems to be lost to time. Despite the fact that the magic the gates use to warp space time is very advanced, the gates themselves appear to be extremely ancient.

A Moon Gate can connect to any other Moon Gate in Tyrth. These special passageways allow fowldyr to travel great distances in an instant. A fowldyr's tether will travel through the Moon Gate as well. This is a massive advantage for fowldyr whose vessels are in fixed locations, as they are able to travel incredible distances without dampening their magic or putting much strain on their tethers.

Moon Gates appear as regular stone arches until they are activated. Once activated, you can see your destination on the other side.

Only beings who can wield magic are able to travel through a Moon Gate - making them almost exclusively used by fowldyr. However, you can bring a non-magical being through a Moon Gate if you link yourselves together using an enchanted ribbon from the Weaver. These ribbons are imbued with powerful magic that can link two beings together. Using one of these ribbons, a fowldyr can safely lead a human through a Moon Gate.
